Questions partners ask
The answers we give funeral homes, cemeteries and monument retailers most often, with a link to the page that covers each one in full.
Accounts and pricing
Who can open a trade account?
Funeral homes, cemeteries and monument retailers. We do not sell to families; they start with their funeral home.
Open an account →Where do I see your prices?
In the retailer portal at deepcarve.online, once your account is open. We do not publish prices on this site, and every proof comes back with a trade quote.
Place an order →How long does account set-up take?
We confirm your business details within 1 to 2 days, then send the Retailer Agreement to sign online. We countersign and both sides get the completed copy.
How an account works →Do you pay referral fees or commissions?
No. You buy from our price list and resell at your own markup. We never bill the family.
For funeral homes →Proofs and designs
What do I send for a design request?
Names, dates, product type, granite color and the cemetery, through the Design a memorial form or to designer@gemstonememorials.com. A sketch or photo of the lot helps.
Send a design request →How long does a proof take?
7 to 14 days, and it arrives with a trade quote. Complex designs, such as mausoleums, can take longer.
How proofs work →What does a proof show?
The drawing, lettering, dimensions, finish, material and name position, so the family signs off on exactly what will be produced.
What a proof shows →What do revisions cost?
The first 2 revisions are free; further revisions are charged. A design request that does not become an order carries a $50 design fee, credited back if you later order.
Proof approval →Can I ask for a symbol or emblem?
Yes. Pick one from the symbol library or describe your own on the request, and we draw it on the proof.
Browse symbols →What do the codes on the proof mean?
They are finish and polish codes, such as Pol. 2 or BRP. Every one is explained in the glossary and the finishes guide.
See the glossary →Lead times and seasons
How long does each product take?
From the day you approve the proof: markers 4 to 6 weeks; upright monuments, cremation memorials and bronze 6 to 8; columbaria and niches 10 to 12. Mausoleums and custom pieces are confirmed on the proof.
Lead times and terms →When do we need to approve for Memorial Day?
Approve the proof by March 15 for Memorial Day, March 1 for Mother’s Day, April 1 for Father’s Day and October 1 for Christmas.
Proof-approval cut-offs →Do you set in winter?
In Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia, foundations close for winter around November 15 and spring setting starts around April 1, weather permitting.
See the service area →What can add time?
The proof itself (7 to 14 days), cemetery permits, freight and, in our setting states, weather.
Lead times by product →Shipping, setting and claims
Do we have to hold stock?
No. Every memorial drop-ships direct to the cemetery, nationwide. Nothing comes through your building.
Shipping and claims →What if a memorial arrives damaged?
The carrier is responsible in transit. Note the damage on the bill of lading (BOL) before signing, send us photos through the Report damage form, and file the freight claim with the carrier.
Report damage →Where do your crews set?
Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York and West Virginia. There our own crews set the memorial and file the cemetery permit. Everywhere else we drop-ship for a local setter.
See the setting standard →When is it delivered once the stone is ready?
Once the material, artwork approval and the foundation are complete, we deliver within 2 weeks, weather permitting. We send a notification when it is delivered; photos are available on request.
Request a setting →What is a lot map location and why do you need it?
It is the cemetery’s record of exactly where the memorial goes. We need it before we set, so the memorial goes where the records say it should. The Sample Cemetery Request Form asks for it.
Brochures and forms →Who files the cemetery permit?
We do, when our crews set in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York or West Virginia. Outside those states the partner or the local setter files it.
For cemeteries →Products and granite
How many granite colors do you offer?
58, from black and grey to red, pink, blue, green, gold and multicolor, produced here or imported. Mausoleums are made in all of them except Jet Black.
See granite colors →Can we get a sample kit?
Yes, for account holders: labeled, polished samples of our core granite colors, printed color sheets for the rest, and a Product Brochure. Request it through your Gemstone representative.
Request a sample kit →What do you make?
Upright monuments, flush, bevel, slant and ledger markers, cremation memorials, columbaria and niches, mausoleums, family lot features, garden memorials, bronze, custom shapes and porcelain photos.
See all products →Which lettering reads best on which granite?
It depends on the color: some styles read light on dark granite, others need a polished face. The finishes guide pairs lettering styles with light and dark stone.
